This page lists what's built and what isn't. We update it as the work moves.

Built, and not turned on for anyone yet.

What's built

  • A transcription pipeline: speech to text, run against a production's glossary, then translated.
  • Written messages ride the same pipeline: typed on a channel, translated for whoever reads it.
  • Retention and expiry handling for the source audio, so a translated transcript outlives the recording it came from on the schedule we set.
  • The read side of the message list: a translated line appears with a toggle back to the original language.

What isn't live yet

  • Capturing the audio of a live channel call, the step that feeds voice into the pipeline. It isn't running, so no call audio reaches the pipeline today.
  • The translation step itself. We're moving it onto servers we run ourselves instead of an outside translation service. Until it runs there, nothing is translated, typed or spoken.
  • Translation runs for no production today.
  • We won't sell it as a feature until it runs. When it does, this page changes first.

Overselling a comms tool is dangerous.

RogerDeck carries a live show's communication, emergency alerts included. A crew member who expects a translation that never comes is worse off than a crew that knows it isn't running and plans around it. We update this page as the work moves, and it will say "shipped" only when it has.
